Writer. Dramatist. My interests lie in notions of identity, reality and the tension between individual/society represented through internal/external realities.
Currently working towards an MSc in Applied Psychology of Intellectual Disability, I've spent the last seven years as facilitator/director of ABC Drama Group (Dumfries)
Other past career highlights would include: 3 years as Dramatist in Residence for Dumfries and Galloway Arts Association (2002-2004)
A mixed teaching career including Open University level, undergraduate, HNC, A level and private tutoring as well as adult education.
A 20 year freelance writing career spanning theatre, film and radio.
A very skilful ability to achieve my ambition of NEVER winning any creative awards (but I have quite a few darts trophies!) or serious industry recognition, and resisting the lure of money and the trappings of "success" in all their forms.
This site (under construction) is an attempt at the painful task of archiving the last 30 years of work... and I'm beginning to wish I'd been less prolific. These days I get my kicks in a much easier way by growing vegetables and tending my hermititis.
My final ambition - like Lao Tzu, to disappear into the mountains as if I had never lived. Well, I'm in the Scottish Highlands now, that's almost there isn't it?
