I've had a 20 year productive professional writing career following the advice of F.Scott Fitzgerand 'write because you have something to say, not because you want to say something.' My main interests are in the areas of reality, truth and the tension between personal and social identity. My aim is to deal with big themes and issues in a comprehensible, if possible user-friendly manner. But in a world which is market driven and where one is only as good as ones reader, my work either attracts or repels. For me the destination is in the journey not in the pay packet.

I am on facebook as Cally Phillips (author) but find it an increasingly unpleasant and irrelevant experience in relation to actually living a life. I can't even begin to comprehend twitter.

I have a degree in Moral Philosophy with International Relations from St.Andrews University (1984), a PG in drama from Academy of Live and Recorded Arts (1988), a PG Dip in Multimedia Design from Napier,(2001) an Open University Diploma in Health and Social Welfare(2004) and by 2011 hope to complete the academic full house by getting an MSc in Applied Psychology of Intellectual Disability from Portsmouth via distance learning.

Mostly, these days I'm too busy living happily ever after in my real life to worry about virtual trappings of ambition or success. I live in the moment where possible and believe that 'tomorrow is just one of yesterday's dreams'. I live a quiet and happy life with my husband and two dogs (respectively George, Dude and Hector) and having striven all my life to make sense of the world and my place in it, I have finally gained my own equilibrium through a personal understandingg of Wu Wei.
